Although my primary focus is Norwegian mountains,
I try to visit other mountains from time to time.
This is an index of the European mountains I've been to. (I have also added Greenland mountains on this page)

1. Mt. Blanc 4810m France. Highest in western Europe. Aug 2003
A massive adventure on the top of western Europe. Bjørn Gillholm and I climbed via the Gouter refuger and Dome du Gouter. Due to severe weather conditions (heatwave), the rockfall in Grand Coulouir made the descent insanely dangerous.
2. Gunnbjørn Fjeld 3694m Watkins Mountains, East Greenland May 2004
Climbed as part of the Greenland May 2004 (G4) expedition. Highest mountain north of the Polar Circle. A furious mix of amazing scenery and acute mountain sickness on the Norwegian National Day, May 17th.
3. Dome (Qaqqaq Kershaw) 3683m Watkins Mountains, East Greenland May 2004
Climbed as part of the Greenland May 2004 (G4) expedition. 2nd highest north of the Polar Circle. Fun ascent on the 1Km long northeast ridge.
4. Cone (Qaqqaq Johnson) 3669m Watkins Mountains, East Greenland May 2004
Climbed as part of the Greenland May 2004 (G4) expedition. 3rd highest north of the Polar Circle. Partly steep snow, but uncomplicated ascent.
5. Peak 3535 3535m Watkins Mountains, East Greenland May 2004
Climbed as part of the Greenland May 2004 (G4) expedition. 6th highest on Greenland. Close neighbour to Gunnbjørn Fjeld. Uncomplicated ascent.
6. Peak 3266 3266m Watkins Mountains, East Greenland May 2004
Climbed as part of the Greenland May 2004 (G4) expedition. East of Gunnbjørn Fjeld. Very nice mountain for skiing.
- Below Gran Paradiso 3030m Graian Alps, Italy Apr 2008
A failed attempt on Gran Paradiso (4061m). My hiking mate Petter reached the summit, while I stayed at Rifugio Vittorio Emanuele (2735m). I took a short ski-trip up to 3030m, but never reached any top.
7. "Brekruna" 2824m Watkins Mountains, East Greenland May 2004
Climbed as part of the Greenland May 2004 (G4) expedition. Nice skiing mountain. Crevasses along the route. One steep pitch. 2nd ascent.
8. Tete de la Tronche 2584m Courmayeur, Italy Aug 2003
A "restitution" hike in a wonderful landscape, after the Mt. Blanc adventure. Bjørn Gillholm was my companion on this hike.
9. "Lille Snefjeld" 2511m Watkins Mountains, East Greenland May 2004
Climbed as part of the Greenland May 2004 (G4) expedition. Can easily be skied. 1st ascent.
10. "Kristine Fjeld" 2449m Watkins Mountains, East Greenland May 2004
Climbed as part of the Greenland May 2004 (G4) expedition. Very fun scrambling (US) class 3 ridge. Be aware of bad rock quality. 1st ascent.
11. "Rabben" 2378m Watkins Mountains, East Greenland May 2004
Climbed as part of the Greenland May 2004 (G4) expedition. Partly steep (US) class 3 ascent. 1st ascent.
12. "Skorsteinseggi" 2275m Watkins Mountains, East Greenland May 2004
Climbed as part of the Greenland May 2004 (G4) expedition. Long ridge with steep faces. Convenient access via ridge. 1st ascent.
13. Point 2263 2263m Watkins Mountains, East Greenland May 2004
Climbed as part of the Greenland May 2004 (G4) expedition. A small hill that marks the beginning/end of a fascinating ridge. Nice look-out point.
14. "Skjærseggi" 2232m Watkins Mountains, East Greenland May 2004
Climbed as part of the Greenland May 2004 (G4) expedition. Long ridge with steep faces. Convenient access via ridge. Great views. 1st ascent.
15. Hvannadalshnúkur 2119m Highest on Iceland Aug 2004
A long ascent (2100m vertical meters) to the highest point on Iceland. Beautiful landscape. Bjørn Gillholm was hiking mate on this trip.
16. Kebnekaise 2114m Highest in Sweden Aug 2002
A traverse over Sweden's highest mountain which included steep wall scrambling, glacier crossing and the Tuolpagorni and Vierramvare summits. Co-hiker was Bjørn Gillholm.
17. Vierramvare 1711m Kebnekaise massif, Sweden Aug 2002
When hiking Kebnekaise the normal route, one has to cross this giant hump. Neither Bjørn Gillholm or myself found this peak very memorable.
18. Tuolpagorni 1662m Kebnekaise massif, Sweden May 2002
Bjørn Gillholm regarded this "bonus" peak as totally unnecessary, after a long hike across the Kebnekaise massif. However, I found the peak tremendously beautiful, and entered stubborn mode even if I was almost dying of thirst.
19. Hekla 1491m Iceland's most famous volcano Aug 2004
A nice visit on a volcano I've heard about since childhood. Bjørn Gillholm was hiking mate on this trip.
20. Ben Nevis 1344m Highest on the British Isles Jul 2002
A great traverse over Ben Nevis, the Carn Mor Dearg (Cmd) arête, and Carn Mor Dearg summit. Co-hikers were Dag Bakke, Gro Sørdal and Else Nornes. Ben Nevis is located by Fort William, Scotland.
21. Halti 1328m Highest in Finland Aug 2002
A great roundtrip in northern Scandinavia with Bjørn Gillholm, which also included the Kebnekaise massif in Sweden and Tromsdalstinden near Tromsø, Norway. Finding this summit was not quite trivial.
22. Ridnitsohkka 1316m 2nd highest in Finland Aug 2002
The distance from the eyepoint to the summit on the picture is the detour I caused, when trying to show off my navigational skills on our way to Halti. Bjørn Gillhom was not too impressed, but getting the 2nd highest mountain in Finland was a good comfort.
23. Ben Macdui 1309m 2nd highest on the British Isles Apr 2003
The high point on a big massif, which also includes Cairn Gorm. Easily reached from the Cairngorm ski-centre near Aviemore, Scotland. The Lairig Ghru valley separates this mountain from the 3rd, 4th and 5th highest mountains in Scotland.
24. Braeriach 1296m 3rd highest on the British Isles Apr 2003
The high point on a big massif which also includes Sgor an Lochan Uaine, Cairn Toul and the Devil's Point. A classic Scottish high-ridge walk, with several starting points, including the Cairngorm ski-centre near Aviemore, Scotland.
