Geitnipa trailhead

Primary factor:

Geitnipa (M711: 501m, Ø.K: 501,33m) has a primary factor of 57m towards the higher Raudnipa (710m) The saddle is found between the two tops. Ref. Økonomisk Kartverk (5m contours), you cross the 445m contours on the high route, but not 440m. The saddle height has been interpolated to 443m.

Access:
On highway E16 between Bergen and Dale, just after the xxx tunnel (coming from Bergen), locate a bus stop on the right hand side. There is a narrow paved road going up to the right. This road goes to Langhelle. You can park at the bus stop (don't block the bus!) or drive all the way up to the gate. I recommend the walk, since the mountain isn't all that high.

The trail starts at the parking. Follow a forest road upwards. When the road does a 90 deg. turn to the right, I followed a trail taking off to the left, and got tangled up in the forest (winter hike, deep snow). I made it to the forest and tried to climb up the steep hill under Geitnipa. That was rather dangerous. Follow instead the foothills southeast and you will come to a valley which will lead you straight up.
