Introduction

Holstadhornet is - in competition with Melshornet - Hareid's city mountain, and an excellent path (albeit boggy after rain in places) takes you from Hareid and up to the summit. You also have a good view towards Hareid from the top.

Once on top, you can proceed in the direction of Skafjellet and you have a number of possible descent routes into Hareiddalen. This page describes the normal route from Hovlid.

Håbakknotten is a small top which is easily accessible from the Hovlid path.

Follow a path upwards. You have a large barn on your right-hand side. Pass between a house and a smaller barn before you embark on the well worn mountain path. The path runs in the northeast direction up to 190 meters elevation. Then the path turns northwest and runs up to the ridge at Feiliskaret. Then the route runs west up to the summit (N62.37877 E5.98553), marked by a trigonometric point.

At 250 meters elevation, you pass the path to Håbakknotten (N62.38197 E6.02529). It's only 340 meters along this path before you are on top.
