Holstadhornet is located northwest of - and above the place Hareid on Hareidlandet island, and you can walk from Hareid to the top of Holstadhornet, on paths. The route described on this page, starts at the place Hovlid, and follows Køyrevegen upwards.
The views are fairly good. You get an excellent view towards Sula, and you get to see a fair share of the wild and rugged Ørsta peaks, in addition to a getting a good overview of the tops on Hareidlandet.
Due to the gentle terrain north of RV61 (Hareid - Ulsteinvik), you have many options once on Holstadhornet. You can follow the Storebroren - Sneldelida - Skolma route and descend to Brandal, or hike across Skafjellet and descend on several trails in Hareiddalen valley.
Holstadhornet (Norge 1:50,000: 531m, Økonomisk Kartverk: 531m, UTM 32 V 344111 6920007) has a primary factor of 98m towards the higher parents Skafjellet and Storebroren (620m). The defining saddle (approx. 32 V 343444 6919763) is found between Holstadhornet and Skafjellet.
