This was my first hike to a Norwegian top in 2010. I had been sick all week, but now I just couldn't stand being idle anymore. I grabbed my snowshoes (I would have taken skis if there was daylight..) and drove to Voldnes. It wasn't so damned cold anymore (approx. -10 deg. C.) but I didn't take any chances and dressed for the Himalayas..

It was a gorgeous evening. Stars all over the sky. I battled deep snow until I got to the ridge (250m). From this point, walking was much easier. Skiing conditions weren't exactly good on this route, so snowshoes were clearly the best choice.

On top, I saw ski tracks and the visitor's register revealed that there had been skiers up here several days in a row (on a different route). That was good news. This fine top deserves being visited. The views were stunning. Ulsteinvik, Ørsta and Volda lit up the surrounding mountains, and it was clearly one of the best trips I've ever had to Laupsnipa.
