I had never..

been to the Flø side on Hareidlandet island before. It was high time. I chose to visit Roppehornet, being the most distinct top on the western side. My colleague Bernhard (who knows all there is to know about paths and trails on this island) recommended that I should hike from Gåsneset. And so I would. After work, I left Ulsteinvik and drove towards Flø. I didn't find the trail head at once, and ended up driving almost to road end, now that I was here and all.

I turned back around and found the trail head this time. I left the car 15:52PM with my little four-legged buddy Troll in the backpack. The rocky path was quite OK for humans, but I pictured that Troll would get a rough walk back down. After having crossed the creek in Uldalen, Troll walked some, but lacked inspiration. We arrived the top 16:40PM, and I enjoyed the views while Troll, seemingly grumpy, stayed in the backpack.

It would have been tempting..

to do a round trip hike. But since I don't want to run out of tops in my local region already in 2008, I left the other nearby tops for future visits. Besides, a long trip back home (almost 2 hours) was awaiting. After pictures, we headed back down the mountain. As guessed, Troll struggled down the rocky path, but was determined to complete his journey down from Roppehornet, and 17:40PM, we were back down by the car. A small tribe of goats seemed to take a strong interest in my car, but fortunately, they were just passing. The trailing Billy looked like he could do some damage, and I decided to wait until they passed. Who knew, perhaps they had been chased by a dachshund at some point in time, and held a grudge. This episode made me remember a horse that also displayed a worrying interest for the car.
