Skagetåa..

is a beautiful "toe". Especially when seen from Skorpesundet or from Keipen on Skorpa island. When I first saw this peak upon my visit to Keipen, it made a lasting impression. Especially the western pillar, which I immediately wanted to climb. But first things first; after work in Ulsteinvik on this nice Monday afternoon, I drove to Nerlandsøya just to visit the top on the normal route.

My regular hiking buddy; the dog "Troll" started this hike in the backpack. The mountainside was way too steep for an old dog, somewhat unmotivated for steep ascents. We left the trailhead 14:58PM. Eagles and synchronized ravens above made the ascent very enjoyable. Besides that, nothing much happened until I reached the top 15:34PM. Previous visitors had left this top untouched; there were no cairns or no markers. I decided to follow the tradition and skipped building a cairn.

The weather was gorgeous, and Skagetåa was a nice place to be. The view towards the Ørsta, Volda and Vanylven was quite familiar to me by now, but nonetheless beautiful.

The Sw ridge

From the top, I got a good view down towards Skorpesundet. I remembered that I had been wanting to climb the SW ridge, and that I needed to do something about it. A few days after this visit, a colleague volunteered to come along for the climb. I hope to be able to present a trip before before summer. What do you have, if you don't have visions and dreams..

The dog was utterly bored, but decided to give walking a try. He managed to walk all the way back to the trailhead, with occasional help down some long steps. We were back at the car 16:19PM. A slow-moving truck was the main reason why I reached the Hareid ferry harbor 17:00:30, just in time to watch the ferry gate close in front of me. Well, some ferries are won and some are lost..
