Lønningsdal - Sveningen via Fjellbotnen (summer)

Access
From Osøyro, follow highway 552 northbound along Samnangerfjorden. At the Lønningsdal bay, exit towards "Lønningsdal". Drive along lake Øvredalsvatnet all the way to Øvredal - approx. 3,1Km (estimated distance) from the highway 552 junction. Ignore road forking left and right. Stay on the main road. Find parking at Øvredal (no public parking).
The route
The route description is not very precise. Ask at the nearby houses to get more accurate information. Follow a forest road northbound. After a while, pass a couple of gates and cross a river on steel beams. At the next junction, follow a gravel road up to the left. This road turns into a visible forest tail and eventually you end up at the Sveningen foothills (Fjellbotnen) From here, the trail up the mountain turns northeast and is marked with white paint on rocks all the way to the top.

Notes
This is a popular trail from the south, and you can follow route 5 back towards Øvredal. A demanding, but rewarding round-trip. I have done the trail from Øvredal 2 times, one in the month of January. Very strenuous in deep snow.
