Introduction

Stålet is the northernmost point on the Stadlandet peninsula. A marked trail runs from Honningsvågen. The route is exposed in a couple of places, and stumbling is simply not allowed here. That said, there are no difficult sections. If you'd like to see the west cape of Norway from the northeast, this is the place to be...

Follow the red sticks up to Vardane, and then the marked trail (ranging from 40-100 meters above the shore) above the shore. A couple of sections are exposed (but not difficult). Just don't stumble. The route up to the summit runs on the north side of the ridge. Stålet (N62.21248 E5.18198) summit is not marked by any cairn or trigonometric point.

Upon return, above the second bay, you can hike (off-trail) up to Egga and follow a vague path to Storevatnet. From here, aim for the ridge that takes you back to the trailhead. At N62.20299 E5.19097 (250 meters), you'll join the yellow route from Bolkevika.

(For non-climbers, ascent of Egga directly from the Stålet-Egga saddle requires a rope for safety...)
