Norwegian Mountains, Møre og RomsdalAurenakken round trip, Nov 17 2007
This route is described on the Aurenakken main page.
Work-related stuff limited the options for where I could walk the dog on this Saturday, and the choice fell on Aurenakken. I drove into the centre of Sykkylven, pulled down the window and asked a passing woman on where the path to Aurenakken was. She had full overview of the Aurenakken routes and described the round trip that I chose to follow. The weather was quite OK, and seemed only to get better. I left the trailhead for the forest path 10:52AM, carrying my little buddy Troll in the backpack. The route was marked by yellow markers, and I was able to follow them most of the way, until I joined the forest road that runs up this mountain. I reached the high point 11:30AM, and proceeded to the viewpoint 100m to the southwest. The view wasn't bad, but I wished they had chopped down some trees to include Straumshornet and Urfjellet in the field of view. On the other hand, having at least one top in the region that shelters you from the wind may be a good idea... I chatted with a guy who arrived the viewpoint on path from Vikedalen, before I began the descent. Troll walked all the way from the top and back to the car, which was quite impressive, given the amount of snow on this road. I was back at the car 12:55PM and went on-line to check that the work-related stuff was going well. It was indeed, and I decided to pay a visit to Blakstadfjellet on the other side of the fjord, before returning back to Ålesund.
