The main part of this beautiful Saturday was spent traveling to and from Nordfjord and skiing Heida. The ski-trip itself was short (1,5 hours) so when I returned back home it was tempting to do an afternoon hike. The choice fell on my regular round trip across Blåtind and Haddalshornet.

My regular starting point is Indre Haddal. I went up towards Klungsdalen and took the first ridge on the left-hand side as this was nearly snow-free. Karma loves this mountain, much due to the local hare (I've also seen two of them on one occasion). The hare leaves tracks and scent all over the mountain and one day I just HAVE to put a GPS on Karma - just to see the total distance covered. The hare is quite safe as Karma would never catch up with it. And I won't let her try either...

The view from Blåtind is always stunning but especially stunning on such a gorgeous day like this one. It's also always satisfying to know that I've been to the vast, vast majority of peaks that one can see from this top...

We continued towards Haddalshornet, and I wondered if I would see Gunn and Hans, whose car was parked at the trailhead. But I only saw their tracks. When we reached Haddalshornet, that concluded the 765 vertical meters ascent that this 6,3km route offers in total.

On Haddalshornet, I am always a bit "edgy" about the descent down the west flank. If the snow is hard, the descent gets a bit complicated as a slide would be long and the stop kind of ... sudden. But today, the snow was soft and even invited for a long and nice glissade.

The best part of a long day with mountain activity is to return home, take a warm shower and look forward to a nice dinner and a glass of wine. With the best conscience in the world, with respect to both myself and the dog...
