Friday afternoon, and I needed to test the foot to find out if there was any point in planning hikes for the week-end. I hadn't been to the mountains for a week, hoping the inflammation would pass. Yesterday's short walk around lake Tveitavatnet (25 minutes) didn't suggest that anything had been solved during the week.
Torill Berg, a friend who likes to travel in the Sunnmøre alps wanted to bag something in Hordaland before heading north for the summer. I suggested we should go to Brøknipa as it matched my requirements; good views and a short hike - in case I needed to limp down.
The plan was to do a round-trip from Trollaskardet. We met by the Osterøy bridge and drove to Trollaskardet. By 17:10PM we were on our way. It was dark and cloudy, certainly not an excellent afternoon. This is a round-trip which is perfect for Troll, and since we now were a small group, Troll decided to present himself from his best side and walked all the way, except a short pitch where we lost the trail.
There should be no reason to lose this trail, but I guess we talked ourselves off the trail. After a short off-trail walk, we were soon back on track and reached Brøknipa summit 18:15PM. This was Torill's first visit on Osterøy, and she seemed quite happy with the views. After pointing out every peak from Masfjorden to Fusa (I never really asked if she wanted to know), we descended via Borgasætri. Small raindrops came down 10 minutes before we were back at the trailhead, which we arrived 20:15PM. The foot was surprisngly good after the hike. After just minutes of stretching, I knew there would be more hiking in the week-end. Glory Halleluja!
