Tverrfjellet
This weekend, Anne and me were on our way to the Swedish border, east of Meråker in Sør-Trøndelag. The purpose of the trip was to turn Anne's dog Fryd over to her new owner - who lives in Vasa, Finland. The plan was to meet him (Kjell) and his daughter (Camilla) at the border on Sunday at noon. Camilla lives in Piteå, Sweden, she is a dog breeder, veterinarian and an obedience trainer and Fryd would spend the first week with them in Piteå. It had been a hard decision for Anne to make, but all factors given, it was the right decision. And it was evident that Fryd would be in good hands. Still, it was a sad trip to make. And Karma would lose her best friend in life. Karma and me met up with Anne and Fryd in Lom, and from here we drove in my car. Our first stop was on Dovrefjell and I had done some research on Tverrfjellet. This seemed to be a nice, short hike. It was raining terribly as we approached Hjerkinn, but through some kind of magic, it stopped raining when we parked the car. We headed out 2:36pm and reached the top 3:03pm after spending a few minutes looking through the glass windows at the Norwegian Wild Reindeer Centre Pavilion. Then it started to rain and we hurried back down and returned to the car 3:24pm.
We continued north and checked into Stav Hotel and visited Hommelvikheia in the afternoon. On Sunday morning, we visited Strætasfjellet outside Stjørdal before driving to the Swedish border where we met Kjell and Camilla - fairly precise at noon. It was a sad and good meeting. Kjell and Camilla made a very good impression but it was of course sad to say goodbye to Fryd. She has given us so much joy (and some aggravation too) in the 6 months that Anne had her. Goodbye, Fryd. Perhaps we'll meet again one day...
Late on Sunday evening, I stumbled through my front door after driving almost 1200 kilometers (and visiting 3 mountain tops along the way). And I kept driving the car in my dreams all through the night...
