My route around Furøya

I had just returned from a nice trip to Vanylven. Storehornet
(686m) and Trollevasshornet (610m) had been explored. Still in exploration mode, I drove home and picked up
the Hawk and prepared for my 3rd
journey in this inflatable rubber boat.
I had many destinations to choose
from, but given the
amount of daylight left, I chose one of the closest islands that I still hadn't
been to - Furøya. I drove to the Tussa power station close to the tunnel between
Haddal and Eiksund and headed out at low tide.
On the way to Furøya

water was stiller than still, and every shape and form reflected
perfectly in the water. I willingly admit that on days such as this - there
is a peace that I don't find in the mountains. A special thanks goes to my
friend Bjørn, who - consistently - has sent me text messages and
pictures from his kayaking adventures. The kayak will come in 2010...
Rounding the Hestholmflu reef

The afternoon just got better by
the minute. As the tide was low, I struggled a bit in getting through the
Kjeholmen - Furøya sound (the larger Kjeholmen island is across the bay) and the
sound of rubber versus rock was not a pleasant one. I then rounded the
Hestholmflu reef before returning to the trailhead.
The trip around Furøya, including
a visit to the high point took 2 hours. The total distance was 4,4km (including
the walk to the top).
