Another evening hike after working in Ulsteinvik. The contrasts to the Kongsvollen hike 4 days earlier were apparent when I changed into hiking clothes. While Kongsvollen summit didn't require ANY clothes, I put on the gore-tex jacket, gloves and hat before heading towards Gardnestua. The temperature was only about 1/3 compared to 4 days ago, and there was a slight breeze.
My dog "Troll" was extremely grumpy this evening, and refused to walk. I left the trailhead 16:15PM and headed up the mountain path. I discovered that I had forgotten my regular wide-angle lens back home, and stopped to pull out the spare Nikon camera from the backpack. Troll jumped out and seemed to have found the will to walk during the last 5 minutes.
The hike upwards was fairly uneventful, and we reached the Gardnestua summit 17:00PM. Rainshowers were seen here and there, but none passed across Hareidlandet. The deep evening colors were beautiful, and I had missed them during the long hazy period. After the usual rituals on top, we headed down the southeast ridge. This was rougher terrain, and Troll worked hard to catch up. I decided to carry him past the most exposed section, although he probably would have done just fine by himself. We followed a path parallen to our ascent route, and were back at the trailhead 17:55PM.
Note:: Varying picture quality due to broken auto-focus on my Canon camera. An old Nikon pocket camera was also brought along on this hike.
