Norwegian Mountains, Møre og RomsdalGarnestua on skis, Jan 14 2010To the main Garnestua/Flåna/Hasundhornet page (maps, route descriptions, other trip reports, etc.)
Very inspired by yesterday's mighty nice ski-trip to Garnestua in the dark, I made the trip again this evening. The temperature at Løsetvatnet was about 0 deg. C, approx. 8 degrees higher than the day before. But the sky was still starry, and I looked forward to the trip up and down the mountain. Especially down. And today I could follow my own tracks - which would make the ascent a little bit easier. I arrived on the summit 7:35pm, and it was a lonely place. Good thing I brought my good friend Loke. He's good company. I spent 10 minutes taking pictures before I headed back down. Skiing conditions for the downhill run weren't ideal (the snow was partly packed in the upper part), but with proper Telemark equipment, it wasn't much of a problem. Using the headlamp, I could see approx. 20 meters ahead, sufficient for keeping a steady pace down the mountain.
