Garneshornet (454m) from Garnes, Jan 16 2012 |
To the main Garnestua & Garneshornet page (maps, pictures, other trip reports) The route to Garneshornet
Garneshornet has become one of my favorite local hikes, and tonight I had the opportunity to go there with my colleague Rune Olsen. There are two things I especially like about Garneshornet and the route from Dragsund; a) the view towards Dragsund and Myrvåg, b) the scrambling opportunities on top.
Dragsund & Myrvåg view
This is a fairly direct route, and as such - the hike was a quick one. It took us approx. 40 minutes to ascend the 450 vertical meters in a normal pace. I want to take the opportunity to thank the person who has cut away the bush in the lower part of the route, and I can only hope that he or she found this so rewarding that the rest of the path is cleared in 2012... The highlight of the trip (in addition to the company of Mr. Olsen - of course) was the encounter with a deer in the juniper forest. It's a bit scary with eyes glowing in the dark...
Rune - scrambling on the summit
As we reached the top, it struck me that it was a long time ago since I was here and it wasn't raining. In other words, a good moment! Rune had never been to this top, so he was quite happy too...
