Today, I had the nice opportunity to show my girlfriend Anne and our friends Hilde and Trond Arne the coolest way to Hasundhornet! I've learned that the most distinct gully in Hasundhornet's west face is called Klo-gylet (hyphen or no hyphen...) and I've been up this route a couple of times before. Now was the time to introduce this route to Hilde and Trond Arne, who can see this gully directly from their house.

I have to admit I was losing a few hours of sleep on Sunday morning when I started to picture 4 persons in this steep and rocky gully. Could a hike up here be defended or was I pushing the limits? I was however confident that if we all stayed closely together, we wouldn't have any issues with rocks set in motion by ourselves.

We headed out from the Dimna junction at 12:30pm and took a direct course towards the gully. Once inside, it didn't take long before we reached the first scrambling section.

It didn't take long before I completely satisfied that this ascent would end well. Everyone moved effectively and "quiet". In a little while, we reached the second scrambling section. In fact, this was the first time I negotiated the problem "head on". The other times I've been here, I've taken a detour at this point.

From here on, it was a "parade" to the top. We stopped by the ridge a bit below the summit to enjoy the views alone (Hasundhornet is quite crowded on any given Sunday...) And what a view it was...

We reached the top 1:50pm and stayed for only a couple of minutes. It was quite cold up there. Then we moved over to the other distinct gully - Kluftagylet (no known hyphen...) where we were to descend. This gully is much "kinder" and doesn't offer any truly interesting sections, but it "completes" the picture of a "quite a different Hasundhornet round trip".

Once down, Trond Arne expressed satisfaction about having done this route. Well, Anne and Hilde did so too, but Trond Arne was ready for bigger challenges. I suppose if I had invited him to continue to Liadal and a traverse of Liadalsnipa, he would have come along right away. But it got late last night, and as already stated - I was a couple of hours short of sleep so I was quite happy about calling it a day. Thanks to Hilde and Trond Arne for their excellent company!
