Norwegian Mountains, NordlandSkogmofjellet (Tverrlifjellet) from Vedal, July 12 2009To the main Sæterfjellet/Grøndalsfjellet/Skogmofjellet page (maps, route descriptions, other trip reports, etc.)
Yet another hike done during my 2009 summer vacation in the Brønnøy region. The morning was spent on Øyrtinden above Langfjorden, but as that hike was a bit short I decided to pay Skogmofjellet a visit in the afternoon. The natural starting point is Vedal - from where I also hiked Sæterfjellet in June 2000. When I visited Brønnøysund in 2008, I returned to Vedal to hike Sæterfjellet, but got scared away by what I believed to be an ill-tempered cow. I may have been unjust to this particular cow, but I was already "on my toes" after having - literally - been chased by a very angry one as I came down from Malmsfjellet a little earlier that the day. But there were no cows present this time, and I (quickly) headed up the Sæterstigen path. I like this route. Sæterstigen is a very characteristic ridge which gives you a nice overview of the surrounding valleys. I hadn't expected there to be a path to Skogmofjellet, but when I reached a signposted fork (without any names), it was clear that I would be able to follow a marked path to the top.
This hike was short too; I left the trailhead 1:23pm, reached Skogmofjellet summit 2:18pm and was back at the trailhead 3:08pm, after a detour which gave me view towards Bjørndalen. A nice one with an excellent coastal view. See also: Sæterfjellet & Grøndalsfjellet, July 8 2009 Next report: Hornsveten. |
