Norwegian Mountains, Møre og RomsdalHaddalshornet - hello spring?, Mar 4 2009To the main Haddalshornet page (maps, route descriptions, other trip reports, etc.)
OK, so I've only just published a report from Haddalshornet, and here I go again. I enjoy this mountain more and more, and especially during winter. The question today was if we were facing the first spring day. The temperature was surely the highest so far in 2009, although strong winds were found high on the mountains. The Lenticular clouds gave the first clue. Along on this hike came my colleague Morten and his dog Odin. I very much looked forward to show Morten the point near the summit ridge where the entire mountainside disappears. It's just åsåm... The mountainside disappears
Arriving on the summit just as darkness falls, is in my book the best way of visiting Haddalshornet. We arrived on the summit 7:35pm and had to descend with our headlamps switched on. We couldn't easily slide down on foot, but glissading was fun. Bad for the trousers, good for the soul. I am confident that neither Morten nor Odin regrets this walk. |
