Introduction

Jærmannburet is the highest point on Gossen island, but it is not the highest point in the municipality of Aukra - as some tend to believe. The high point can be reached after a short (20 minute) walk from the Jærmannburet trailhead.

Once there, don't miss out on the local history...

Access

(all distances are approx. distances)

This route description starts at the ferry harbor on Gossen island. You get to the island by ferry from Hollingsholmen.

Once on the island (N62.78088 E6.91619), go right and follow the main road for 4,9km. At the "Nerbøen 1" signpost (N62.81617 E6.88506), turn right and follow the road to Nerbøen for 4,1km. Turn right again when you see the "Jærmannburet" signpost (N62.82403 E6.92988), follow the road for 100m, then turn right onto the Jærmannburet parking area (N62.82347 E6.93140).

Follow the service road for 0,6km up to the water reservoir. Locate the path on the back side of the reservoir. After a short, steep pitch, you take on the final yards to the summit (N62.81900 E6.92950), marked by some sort of pole. There are no trees on top, so you have a fairly good view from up there.

Upon descent, you can follow a path to the northwest (see picture below), which will lead you back down on the service road.
