Kamben - Jan 25 2013 |
To the main Kamben page (maps, pictures, other trip reports)
My four-month old puppy Karma is still not ready for the high mountains, and my quest for locating smaller tops that I haven't been to yet - is getting harder and harder. But before I left Sunnmøre this Friday (on my way to see Anne in Sogndal) I re-discovered Kamben above Bjørke. I had completely forgotten about it. And as I had planned to drive the Kvivsvegen road, this was the perfect mountain (or hill) for an afternoon hike. The time was 3pm when I arrived at Bjørke. I let the GPS guide me to the beginning of the forest road that seemed like an obvious route up the mountain. And at 3:05pm, Karma and me were on our way.
At 240 meters, the forest road ended, but it was quite obvious where we should go. And I was also fortunate enough to find the vague path that took us up to the forest ridge. After crossing boggy (but now frozen) ground, we arrived on the top 3:43pm. The vertical distance was approx. 330 meters. It was just great to be standing here with mighty mountains all around. Even if I hadn't been to all of them, I knew them all; Oddekloven, Dukhornet, Kjerringøyra, Helghornet, Jakta, Risenosa, Kårdalstindane, Bjørkehornet - to name some. Grow fast, little Karma. You have some great trips ahead of you...
