Norwegian Mountains, Møre og RomsdalLaupsnipa, Jan 28 2009To the main Laupsnipa page (maps, route descriptions, other trip reports, etc.)
Yet another evening hike to one of my favorite Ytre Søre Sunnmøre tops. I had invited my good friend and colleague Morten and his dog Odin. Morten brought along his friend Leif Arne, and together we formed a chain of lights up Laupsnipa on this beautiful evening. Arriving at Voldnes was amazing. A waning crescent moon, with the new moon visible (I rarely see that) was sitting just on top of Laupsnipa. When I finally found a good photo point, the moon had disappeared behind the mountain. And never to be seen again on this evening.. But Venus kept us company, just like it has on most of my January evening hikes. The path was a bit icy, but we reached the summit (7:09pm) within the hour. By then the afternoon light had transformed from lingering to non-existing. Morten and Leif Arne (neither had been to Laupsnipa before) enjoyed both the mountain and the views and expressed so very clearly. Which in turns makes it very rewarding for me to invite friends on hikes like this. And Odin seemed to enjoy himself big-time too...
