Access:

From the centre of Bergen, drive through Løvstakken tunnel. At the first roundabout after the tunnel, exit left onto J.L Mowinkels vei. Follow this road approx 1km and turn left onto Krohnegården road. Another road goes to the right from this junction, and you will see a green "Løvstakken" sign pointing towards the right. Don't be confused by this sign. As stated, turn left and follow Krohnegården approx. 500m until you reach the Krohnegården/Rosenlundveien junction. Find parking in this area.

The trail:

A green "Løvstakken" sign is located at the bottom of Rosenlundveien road. Follow Rosenlundveien upwards. At the first road junction, go left and follow this road upwards to the forest line. When the road makes a sharp right turn, locate the trail on the left hand side just after the road turn.

The trail maintains a steady 2 o' clock NE direction all the way to a boulderfield. You ascend the boulder field towards the north. The boulderfield is rather steep, and a rope has been put up on the right hand side if someone have the need for a safety measure. Once above the boulderfield, you eventually reach a viewpoint, where you can restitute and enjoy the great views.

The hike to the summit is a short walk, and may involve some light scrambling, unless you seek ways around the small cliffbands that lies below the summit. Descend your ascent route or go down the Melkeplassen v/Skytebanen trail.

Notes:

I did this hike with Stein Håkon Lygre and Magnus Ness, two mountain enthusiasts, working for the University in Bergen. They are also among the creators of the Hordalandstoppen idea.

We met at the trailhead at 8:00PM, ready for a hike in total darkness, but carrying headlights. I brought along Troll, and expected to carry him all the way up, but he was inspired by the company and hiked all the way to the top. And down. Good dog. Stein Håkon and Magnus provided excellent guiding, and made sure we didn't waste valuable time in going around the minor obstacles along the way :) It took us exactly 30 minutes to the summit. We descended towards the north and ended up near Melkeplassen v/Skytebanen, before heading back to the trailhead. The hike down took roughly 35 minutes. Good trail. I will hike it again. In daylight.
