Norwegian Mountains, Møre og RomsdalReistadkollen, 501m
![]() IntroductionReistadkollen is a characteristic rounded hill, located just above highway E136 between Tresfjord and Åndalsnes. More than twice as high, the more majestic peaks Trollstolen and Blåstolen rise behind. Reistadkollen is easy to reach on forest road and forest path from Øvre Reistad. Allow one hour for the walk to the top. Even with so much higher mountains around, the view is still good. Especially to the north - the mountains on the Moldehalvøya peninsula. You'll also have a good view towards the impressive Romsdalen peaks; Vengetindane, Romsdalshorn, Kalskråtinden, Breitinden and Trolltindane. Primary factor:Reistadkollen (Norge 1:50,000: 501m, Økonomisk Kartverk: 501m, UTM 32 V 413251 6941872) has a primary factor of 138m towards the higher parent mountain Trolltinden (1241m). The defining saddle (approx. UTM 32 V 413889 6940836) is found in Bjørkeskaret. Ref. Økonomisk Kartverk (5m contours), the saddle is within the range 360-365m, interpolated to 363m.

The trails described below are not necessarily the *easiest* trails to this mountain.
Access (all distances are approx. distances) From Ålesund, follow highway E136->E39 eastbound towards Åndalsnes. You pass the place Sjøholt, drive across Ørskogfjellet, down Skorgedalen valley to the Molde/Åndalsnes junction just before you reach Tresfjorden. Turn right onto highway E136 towards Åndalsnes, drive around the Tresfjorden bay, pass the northern tip of the peninsula and drive to Nedre Reistad. This is 29,4Km from where you left E39 and turned right towards Åndalsnes. At Nedre Reistad, turn right towards Vågstranda, then turn left and drive 400m (you cross under E136). Then, just before a bridge, turn right. Drive 700m up a long hill. Just before a bridge, turn left and drive 150m to an old barn. Park here. Note that you're on a loop road, so you can continue driving ahead upon your return.
The route From the barn, follow the forest road heading south/southeast. After 600m, the road forks. Turn left. Ignore a couple of branching forest roads to your left, until you've walked 700m. Turn left now, and then immediately right, crossing a ditch. If you don't cross the ditch, you'll follow a dead-end forest road. After crossing the ditch, follow an overgrown forest road until it ends. Follow the forest path, which is marked by red paint on trees. The path climbs steep up the forest and tops out between Raudberget and Reistadkollen. The upper route is gentle, and the remaining 600m is a nice walk. You'll arrive at a
cairn. The high point (only marked by a bolt) is found 35m to the northeast.
The cairn marks (of course) a good viewpoint towards the Øvre Reistad area. It
is important to be able to see "home". Visit the high point for a broader
panorama view.
