This Saturday morning was yet another rainy one. I guess we're used to it by now, cheated of both summer and autumn as we are used to know them. But it was time to visit another mountain, so I flipped a coin and decided to head south-east. As the snow had been creeping down to 900m, I looked for candidates in that elevation. Skurdahornet in Stranda came up as the perfect candidate. This wouldn't be a very long hike, so the rain wasn't all that important.
But upon arriving Stranda, the weather was just great! Showers were passing all around, but Stranda was dry. A friend had given me trailhead instructions, but I got confused and found the trailhead using the GPS.
The dog and I left the trailhead 13:37PM. I decided to carry the dog through the forest. The path was quite wet, and we're talking about a dachshund! They do mind about their fur getting wet. Cat-like, in that respect.
A major rainshower was passing just as we came out of the denser forest. We were in the outskirt and received only 14 drops of rain. That's tolerable. Roaldshornet looked very nice in white dressing, and I would have included Roaldshornet if it hadn't been for the fact that I didn't feel well at all. Nausea and headache. And I hadn't even been drinking. What a waste.
The worst nausea went away as we reached Skurdavatna. I figured Troll could walk the remaining 200 vertical meters, and so he did. We reached the top 14:55PM, and it was a beautiful place to be. We headed over to the NE viewpoint cairn, which offered a great view down to the fjord.
Upon descent, I gave Roaldshornet one second thought, but decided to call it a day. Nothing much happened during descent, and we were back at the trailhead 16:22PM. It was raining when I drove away, but I'm not necessarily sure that it was raining on Skurdahornet - this small paradise mountain top on this miserable weather day.
