Introduction

Småbrekkebukken, is one of the "Bukke" mountains (bukk=he-goat) south of the Dale - Bulken highway. Småbrekkebukken lies between Storliknausen and Bergsbukken, and rises well over the Bergsdalen valley.

Primary factor: Småbrekkebukken (M711: 1129m, Ø.K: 1128,5m) has a

primary factor of 126m towards the higher Bergsbukken (1162m). The saddle is found between the two tops. Ref. Økonomisk Kartverk (5m contours), you cross the 1005m contours on the high route, but not 1000m. The saddle height has been interpolated to 1003m.

Access:

On highway E16 Bergen - Voss, from Dale or Bulken (near Voss) take the former main highway over Hamlagrø (Bergsdalen valley). At the north-west end of lake Småbrekkevatnet there is a trailsign to the Høgabu tourist hut. Park the car there.

The trail:

The trail begins at a gate, follows a gravel road for a short distance, continues over a gated bridge, and then runs alongside the lake for a while. At the first hut, the T-marked trail takes a southwest course (up to your right), and begins to climb. The trail is wide and visible. When you come to the first hilltop, and you have view over lake Moavatnet (624), follow the main trail down to the lake.

The trail runs along lake Moavatnet (624) and at the end of the lake, the next climb begins (Moadalene). At lake 795, exit the trail and follow the gorge upwards, which is where the steep climb begins. At the top of the first gorge, you are at the foothills of the mountain, but it is too steep to climb here. Continue beyind point 960 and continue to the top of the pass. From the top of the pass, the climb to the top is easy. There are two summit points - 1115m and 1129m, where 1129m is the northernmost point.

Notes:
This is an easy hike all the way. It took me 2 hours from the trailhead to the top in good tempo. Nice view of Bergsdalen in all directions.
