Sundsfjellet and Skårfjellet are the southernmost tops on the Sømnahalvøya peninsula. Both tops are easy to reach on their easiest routes (from the west), and Sundsfjellet is spectacularly rugged despite of its modest elevation. This page describes (in addition to an easy route) a round trip across the mountain.
Sundsfjellet (Norge 1:50,000: -, Økonomisk Kartverk (ØK): 245,24m, (UTM 33 W 365713 7237586), has a primary factor of 197m towards the higher parent mountain Kjøsvikfjellet (495m). The defining saddle (approx. UTM 33 W 367575 7239177) is found on Hjelmsetmyra, between the two mountains. Ref. Økonomisk Kartverk (5m contours), the saddle is within the range 45-50m, interpolated to 48m.
GPS measurement on the ground read 245m, averaged over a 5-minute period (error margin not recorded)
Skårfjellet (Norge 1:50,000: 240m, Økonomisk Kartverk (ØK): 240,17m (approx. UTM 33 W 363394 7235757) has a primary factor of 167m towards the higher parent mountain Sundsfjellet.
