Not-so-good weather plus cumbersome snow (deep and loose) made Anne Rudsengen and me look for a mountain that might have ski-tracks up the mountain. Tylderingen was absolutely one of the candidates, being one of the most popular skiing tops in the Sogndal region. We made our decision and drove up to Fretland (510m).

It was snowing when we arrived at the trailhead, and visibility up on the mountain would surely be low, but besides this - the weather seemed to be OK. So far. We followed old tracks up to the Stokksete cabins (750m), and the tracks were quite essential as they carried our weight. One single step outside - and skiing became very strenuous.

After a little while, following the tracks (no longer visible) became time-consuming, and far from easy. But then Tom came along. Tom is a friend of Anne, and he knew (more or less) where his old tracks went. We were more than happy to let Tom pass and show the way. Especially now that we were heading into wind and low visibility.

We arrived on the summit 11:57am - 1h:40m after heading out from Fretland. The summit was a cold and windy place, and there was no will or reason to hang around. We turned around after a short stay and looked forward towards the descent. Anne and I had telemark equipment, but it is only fair to say that Tom was the telemark king of this mountain - on his regular mountain skis. That said, nothing wrong can be said about Anne's style...

A bit further down in the forest, we parted with Tom. On the way up, I had noticed a couple of ledges that could be very cool to ski across. It should be duly noted that the ledges were low and that the the jumps would be short, but those mere facts would in no way ruin the fun...

After some big forest fun, we proceeded to the trailhead and arrived at 12:58pm - 2h:30m after leaving. Tylderingen was definitely a pleasant experience, and I look forward to visit its higher neighbour to the north - Torstadnakken, 1565m.
